The Chalet

Foundations for The Chalet were poured at the time the Incline was under construction. Its 12 bedrooms and dining room were opened on July 4, 1893. When the Echo Mountain House was completed, the smaller hotel was renamed The Chalet. Mount Lowe, The Railway in the Clouds, page 66.

The Chalet on the eastern promontory of Echo Mountain, looked over the valley. The hotel had a U.S. Post Office for mailing letters. Mount Lowe, The Railway in the Clouds, page 67.
